UV Coating

A UV coating is a glossy coat that can be applied to plastic cards to give them an extra glossy finish. This coat is applied to the card in the same manner that an ink color is applied. The UV coating is typically applied after all other colors are applied.

Spectrum Card offer two types of gloss finish: UV coat and overlay. A UV coat makes colors appear more vibrant, however it does not protect a card as well as an overlay would. Once a UV coat is applied to a card, we cannot thermal print on top of the coating - so if your cards require variable data or a barcode, overlay would be applied to the side that needs the thermal printing instead of the UV coat.
